Summary

​The 5th US-India Energy Partnership Summit was held in Washington, DC from September 30 to October 1, 2014. The two-day Summit, organized by TERI North America and Yale University, focused on 'Accelerating Resilient Growth and Development', and coincided with the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Summit started with a High Level Corporate Dialogue and two parallel thematic tracks on 'Smart Solutions for Sustainable Cities in India (Smart Cities)' and 'Institutional Investment in Renewable Energy'. At the Summit, an MoU titled 'Cooperation on Enhancing Energy Efficiency in the Built Environment' was signed between TERI and the United Technologies Corporation to establish the Centre of Excellence on Energy-Efficient Buildings in Indian Cities. Along with the Summit co-chairs, Dr RK Pachauri and Dr Peter Salovey, some of the distinguished speakers at the Summit included Dr Ernest Moniz, United States Secretary of Energy; Dr Rajiv Shah, Administrator, USAID; Mr Daniel Poneman, United States Deputy Secretary of Energy, among several others. The Summit was attended by senior representatives from various key organizations, namely, Antioch University, Azure Power, Bloomberg, Brookings, Christensen Global Strategies, Center for Strategic and International Studies, Clean Tech Advocates, Columbia University, Environmental Financial Products, and many others.​
